C.hecco Costa was a dreamer: for this reason 50 years ago, he decided to import the 200 Miglia di Daytona to Italy, for a unique race between European riders against American ones. “It was something incredible - remembers his son Claudio Marcello Costa, for all fans, Dottorcosta -. For the first time, we no longer started by pushing, but lined up on the starting grid; the suits went from black to colored, the two main representatives were Kenny Roberts for the United States and Giacomo Agostini for Italy ”.
Just Agostini will be one of the guests of honor at a celebratory event to be held on Wednesday 25 May at 11, at the Checco Costa museum of the Enzo & Dino Ferrari racetrack: it was 1972 when the first edition of the 200 miles was held in Imola. Precisely on that occasion, Dr.orcosta actually invented the Mobile Clinic.
“I thought - the luminary of Imola is moved in the podcast - that it was necessary to intervene immediately on the track, to speed up the times: this was the only way to save the pilots' lives after an accident ”. A madness, an idea as original as it is wonderful: since 1972, the Mobile Clinic has been transformed, it has become a real hospital on wheels, with Doctor Costa assisted by doctors of the highest level, the best in their respective fields. All this mixed with psychology.
"The body is key, but if you work well on the head, you can achieve great results”Explains Claudio in the #podcast, able to enter the soul of the drivers, for extraordinary recoveries. “An example for all of us" normal "people: if you believe in it, you can do it. The pilots are not gifted with extraordinary skills, they simply have great willpower ”.
Recoveries that can no longer be done today are considered madness. Dr.orcosta explains with a wonderful metaphor - how a mother can treat an injured child in two different ways - why in her career she has always preferred to speed up time after an injury.
Dottorcosta also talks about Marc Marquez (“He's a brand new Marquez: he can become even stronger”), by Enea Bastianini (“A mix between Valentino Rossi and Marco Simoncelli: psychologically he's ready to take the title”); by Pecco Bagnaia and many other topics.
The complete episode, number 68, of #atuttogas, the Moto.it podcast, can be listened to from next Sunday, May 22, on Moto.it and on major podcast platforms.
